My photographs always have stories. This was just after the rain and I went for a walk towards a rocky outcrop. On the way back to the car I came across the magical world which would have made no sense had it not been for the rain that had just fallen. The puddles had turned the landscape into a world of fantasy and I could imagine myself looking at a movie set and characters coming alive. At this time I was into photo manipulation and was working on populating these amazing scenes with magical creatures and creating mythical lands. God had given me my canvas. I came across on an old mine site area. I arrived just after the rain fell. With boots covered in mud I went looking for a treasure among the landscape. This photo I like for the movement of the background, the silhouette of the stick against the brown muddy water and the power of water to change a landscape from dry and dusty to sloppy mud. I stopped at a river crossing between Morawa and Yalgoo and decided to walk along the river bed. The birds always gather around near the water and I was lucky to witness a group of them having a bit of a drink and a swim. I was quiet enough not to disturb them but they didn't seem to care too much. It was like they had never experienced humans before. Pink and Grey Galah's always gather around water. I remember being in the bush out near Wyalkatchum one day. It was close to 40 degrees and I saw a pink and grey. There was no way any water would have survived these conditions. As I looked around however I noticed that there was a concrete water pipeline, it had a small hole. I put my hand on the pipe and was able to find water to drink. So I will always trust a pink and grey Galah.
